Tom Lynn Summary Bio
Mr. Lynn is a practicing attorney and a National Hockey League Players Association-certified player agent. Mr. Lynn is a founder and principal of the player-agency Veritas Hockey. He is a member of the bar of the states of Minnesota and New York. Mr. Lynn practices in the areas of Business Formation, Expansion and Transformation, Business Disputes (court, alternative dispute resolution, mediation), and General Business Law Practice.
Prior to opening his law practice in Minnesota and representing professional and amateur hockey players, Mr. Lynn served in various capacities with the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League. He joined the Minnesota Wild as Director of Hockey Administration and Legal Affairs on April 24, 2000, and held the position until being promoted to Assistant General Manager/Hockey Operations on September 4, 2003 while still serving as the de facto chief legal officer of the company. He also served as Acting General Manager of the Wild in 2009.
Mr. Lynn has worked extensively with legal issues in the sports business, representing leagues, teams, and players (including NCAA rules, regulations and compliance issues). He has been an adjunct professor at the St. Thomas University Law School in Saint Paul, Minnesota, teaching Sports Law and is a long-time member of the Sports Lawyers Association, the leading industry group.
Prior to joining the Wild, Lynn, 54, worked in New York City for six years at the law firms of Proskauer Rose LLP and later Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts. During that time, his diverse practice intersected many areas of law and business, including litigation, labor and employment, intellectual property, antitrust, corporate investigations, commercial transactions, financial litigation, and corporate governance.
A native of Syracuse, New York, Lynn played hockey at Yale University before transferring to Le Moyne College, where he was graduated cum laude with a degree in Philosophy in 1991. He went on to receive his law degree from Cornell Law School in 1995. He and his wife Leslie live in Saint Paul, Minnesota with their six children.
